Beltane is coming. Are you in?
Beltane is one of the best-known fire festivals in the Wheel of the Year. It takes place in early May, at about the midway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. In recent years, it has often been sort of folded into “May Day” (in the “let’s gather flowers and do the May pole” tradition, not in the Chairman Mao manner).
But the time to celebrate is traditionally anywhere from about April 30th to May 5th.
I’m opting for Saturday, May 2nd, because the energy of Saturday (Saturn’s Day) is perfect for long-term goals and boundary-setting, and that is going to be a part of our celebration.
Join me in circle with other women on May 2nd to welcome the coming of summer!
In past times, when the spring season was just an idea, things shifted from winter to summer and back—and this is the time marking that shift to summer. It is about honoring and celebrating the fertility of the earth, and traditionally includes a focus on sex as well. (While we will discuss that, rest assured there will be no sex during our circle!)
Traditionally, it is marked with fire and smoke, with flowers and ribbons, with celebration and song.
This Zoom-based event means nobody has to use gas money in order to attend. It will begin at 1 pm EDT and run about an hour and 15 minutes. During our circle, we will welcome and celebrate the blessings of Beltane!
This event will include meditation, a (small) fire ceremony, a crop blessing (for all plant life), and instructions on making a flower crown. If you have been present for one of the past circles, it will be similar, but of course different, since we are now in a different season and the energy of the event is similarly different.
Attendees also receive a complimentary single-card pull from my Seasons of the Witch Beltane Oracle Deck.
Admission is $33 per person. $3 from each ticket sold will be donated to Feeding America as a way of sharing abundance with those in need.
