Sumer is icumen in.*
Join me in circle with other women on May 2nd to welcome the coming of summer. In past times, when the spring season was just an idea, things shifted from winter to summer and back—and this is the time marking that shift to summer. It is about honoring and celebrating the fertility of the earth, and traditionally includes a focus on sex as well. (While we will discuss that, rest assured there will be no sex during our circle!)
Traditionally, it is marked with fire and smoke, with flowers and ribbons, with celebration and song.
*The phrase at the top of this post is the title and first line of one such song: “sumer is icumen in”, meaning “summer is coming in” (or starting). It’s the oldest surviving song written in the English language, though it is in a form of English no longer used.
We will join in circle to celebrate Beltane, and the coming of the May. This being a time of transition in the year, we will honor our own transitions and write down new intentions in the areas of love, fertility, creativity and prosperity for the coming year to be offered to the fire.
In addition to our circle time, I will share a crop blessing with you that you can use for your own garden or plants. I will also share instructions for making a flower crown for yourself if it is something you would like to do during the weekend.
I am offering each attendee the gift of a single-card pull from my Seasons of the Witch Beltane Oracle Deck. You will receive your card reading independently in a private email.
Tickets are priced at $33 each. Three dollars ($3) from each ticket sold will be donated to Feeding America, as a means of spreading abundance with those in need. I’ve set a limit of 24 people for attendance, to ensure that I have the capacity to hold the space for us all.
