The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
The precise origin of this quote isn’t clear, though it’s often attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt, a wildly smart woman who knew something about following her dreams:
I believe that in many cases, our dreams for ourselves are actually a glimpse of our future, or at least of what our future will be if we have the courage to take action on those dreams.
If that sounds a bit “woo-woo” to you, well . . . you’re right!
One of the ways to tap into your dreams to find out what you truly want for your future is to do a guided visualization. I’ve got a free one on offer for you if you sign up for my newsletter, in fact, because I so believe in the importance of visualizing your future. It’s a way of mentally and emotionally traveling forward in time to see what your future self is up to.
The thing is, I’ve come to a realization.
I believe that guided visualizations are time travel.
I believe that guided visualizations are time travel. Actual time travel.
Hear me out on this:
When you participate in a guided visualization meditation, you focus on the words you hear and the images and emotions that enter your mind and body.
When you use your imagination in this way, you are neurologically entering that imagined future as if it were real. Right here, right now.
With guidance during the meditation, you can anchor that experience of being in that future setting. You return to your present self out of the guided visualization with the ability to transport yourself at will to the future moments that you experience during the meditation.
Often times, future you will have accomplished a dream or goal that you currently have. This is an excellent state of affairs, because it means that on the quantum plane, you are now in contact with a version of yourself who has already done what it is that you still need to do.
The fact that future you has done it means that you already possess the power to achieve that dream.
A good guided visualization will help you experience what happens in a future time when your dreams have been or are being realized. When you return to the future, you not only know that you can do what it is that you are dreaming of.
Oftentimes, you will return with additional knowing.
In my case, I returned from a meditation about my future self with the inner knowing that what brought me all my success wasn’t hustle or grind, or even the things that make up the day-to-day bits of working in and on my business. No—I returned to my present self knowing that it’s the daily habits that I engage in to help me tap into my intuition that are the key to my success.
I wrote about them here, but they include things like meditation, visualization, journaling, reading or taking in inspirational or motivational content, and lots of spirit/energy work, from working with gemstones to setting intentions to using mantras to working with oracle or tarot cards to touching base with universal spirit. Add in some exercise and/or time in nature, and that is what is the root of my future success.
I’m sharing with permission a note I received from one of the lovely women who participated in a Dream It, Do It workshop with me as further evidence of how transformational a guided visualization can be:
Before I go, here’s a reminder that you still have time to register for Dream It, Do It. With a guided visualization, guided journaling, an energized vision board, and some goal-mapping, it’s a truly juicy workshop. The workshop itself is $97 USD, and there is an enhanced version for $247 USD that includes the workshop plus three months of 1:1 accountability coaching (weekly email support plus two 30-minute calls).
I am offering this truly powerful, empowering way for you to uncover more of your dreams this weekend. There is a workshop on Friday, April 30th from 6-9 pm EDT, and another on Saturday, May 1st from 1-4 pm EDT, so that you have your choice of days and times.
