The cure for anything is salt water

Ever feel so bleh that you don’t know what you want to do? It’s a feeling state of almost un-feeling.

It’s not boredom, and it’s not crankiness. Or it’s both, but not really either.

It’s like wanting to do something, but not having the energy or will to do it. It’s like you want to wish for something or do something or change something, but you’re stuck where you are.

It’s a blankness. It’s a hollow feeling that is hard to put into words.

And it is harder still to deal with in real life.

This particular mood state typically shows up when I’m fatigued, and it has been a large part of my experience off and on for the past ten days or so, since my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia are making themselves more known.

According to the website healthline.com, “Fatigue is a term used to describe an overall feeling of tiredness or lack of energy. It isn't the same as simply feeling drowsy or sleepy. When you're fatigued, you have no motivation and no energy.”

Merriam Webster notes that fatigue is “the tendency of a material to break under repeated stress”, as in the case of metal fatigue.

Truly, one could substitute the word “mental” for “metal” and remain accurate.

What I want you to know: there are ways to clear your energy field and improve your state of being, even when you are fatigued

When I hit the fatigue levels I’ve described above, it is hard to find the will to do the things that might actually help get out of that state.

There are a slew of tips on medical websites, such as getting sleep, exercising or moving, eating frequent small meals that are dense in nutrients, staying hydrated, and so forth, that are all good for helping with medical fatigue.

But it can be hard to remember to actually do those things when you are already feeling so meh that you have little interest in much of anything.

What helps at those times is clearing your energy field or your aura.

What you need is salt.

The cure for anything is salt water. When you're fatigued or feeling blah, salt water can help. Especially an Epsom salt bath.

One of the best ways I know to clear your energy field is to take a bath—especially one that involves salt. It could be Epsom salts, sea salt, Himalayan salt, Icelandic salts, Dead Sea salts, or a blend, with or without the added benefit of essential oils. (You can also clear it using palo santo, herbal smoke, or other methods.)

Salt is a great energetic neutralizer.

When heated, salt releases negative ions, which help to generate positive changes in the body. Salt in water is extremely nurturing—Epsom salts in particular help the body by increasing its magnesium levels, as the magnesium from the salt is absorbed through the pores. Super helpful in combatting aches and pains, and in helping some people keep migraines at bay.

In our daily lives, we are basically all Pigpen from the Peanuts cartoon, gathering bits of energetic dust from emotions and from other beings throughout the day until our energy fields resemble a used lint roller.

When you take a salt bath, between the warmth of a bath and the magnesium and negative ions in the salt, your body physically feels better, just as your energy field is cleansed of any “stuck” energies.

Of course, when you are feeling totally BLAH, the last thing you may want to do is, well, anything. And that includes not wanting to run a bath.

At times like that, I am of a favorite phrase from the poem “How to really love a child” by SARK.

Be there. Say yes as often as possible. Let them make lots of noise. If they’re crabby, put them in water. If they’re unlovable, love yourself.
— How to Love a Child, by SARK

The phrase that always pops into my mind is “if they’re crabby, put them in water.”

As grown-ups, we pretty much have to take care of ourselves (and possibly others). It’s helpful to engage your inner parent—the positive, healthy one we’d all like to be, or to have had in our own lives—and to send ourselves into the bathtub for at least 20 minutes of soaking time.

Next time you’re feeling blah, I hope you will give a salt bath a try.

Simple Dr. Teal’s Epsom salts work wonders, though there are plenty of lovely custom mixes out there. And even Dr. Teal’s makes some with essential oils like lavender or other ingredients mixed in, from hemp seed oil to ginger and clay and more. Those other things might make your bathing experience more enjoyable for other reasons, but it’s the salt that will clear your energy field.

Let me know how it goes!
