On pause

On pause

This week (and possibly the next two), I will be taking my own advice from last week’s blog post, and pausing a bit.

My fibromyalgia has been acting up. My heart has been running a bit too fast, and I “get” to wear a halter monitor for a week to figure out what’s up. Overall, I’ve been feeling a bit out of sorts, and to be honest, my guess is that it’s pandemic fatigue.

Pandemic fatigue is an expected and fairly natural response to dealing with an ongoing pandemic. It has a mixed bunch of symptoms, but can involve physical and mental health. According to the Oregon Board of Health: “Pandemic fatigue – a mixed bag of emotions and behaviors that leaves us feeling just not ourselves.”

If you (like me) are feeling “not yourself,” then maybe ask yourself whether you are also experiencing pandemic fatigue, or whether you have been more stressed than usual. Also assess whether you have been taking good care of your physical and mental equipment (have you been eating, hydrating, and sleeping well? are you being kind to yourself?)

"When will you have a little pity for every soft thing that walks through the world, yourself included?"

It’s okay to rest.

You do not have to earn rest or the right to rest. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to take advantage of you.

I will of course be available to speak with clients and potential clients. I may not be around the social media streets as much as usual, but for sure get in touch if you have something to share (or ask)!
