Don't give up.
How are you doing today?
On the one hand, I’m fine. Physically have more spoons than I have lately, though I’m not at full power. Mentally I’m feeling a bit more clear. Emotionally, I’m okay, unless I think of literally anything outside my house.
Yesterday was a complicated day. It’s been hard not to feel that we are living in a failing nation. It’s been debilitating to see decades of forward motion on civil rights being set back by some states and the Supreme Court, which has essentially gone rogue to achieve a particular agenda. It’s maddening to see some police departments acting so very badly (looking especially hard at Akron, OH and Tampa, FL today).
The thing is, the white supremacist patriarchy is kicking up a ruckus because it is in serious danger of defeat. If we all keep the faith and do the work, all of this awfulness around us may eventually be a reality. The patriarchy is counting on us to feel defeated and to give up.
I’m not giving up.
It’s okay to feel tired, to need rest, to be sad. Just don’t give up, okay?
