A new moon means new goals
Today is truly a day of new things.
The new moon was at 12:46 a.m. EST, and it moved into Aquarius, which is all about community and visionary thinking. It can be about spirituality, and also about shaking things up.
When the new moon arrived, it also established the Lunar New Year. For the many Asian communities who observe it, the new year has now arrived and it’s the Year of the Water Tiger. You can read a bit about it in this post.
It being February 1st, it is also Imbolc, also known in some places as St. Brigid’s Day or Candlemas. It is located between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, and honors the earliest stirrings of spring. It’s not uncommon for snowdrops to appear in our area now, even with snow on the ground.
(In full disclosure: right now where I live, we still have the better part of a foot of snow on the ground, so even if they are up, we won’t see them today.)
It’s a wonderful day to do a bit of spring cleaning, to sow seeds—in the ground if it’s warm enough where you are, or indoors if it’s not, and to notice and celebrate the fact that the days are visibly getting longer. In just six weeks, it will be the spring equinox, where day and night are roughly equal!
And, of course, tomorrow is Groundhog’s Day, which roughly corresponds to the idea that the weather on Candlemas (or St. Brigid’s Day) foretells the arrival of spring. I will likely observe the day by rewatching the movie starring Bill Murray. That movie is in part about how every day can be just like the last, but it’s also about us having the power to make choices that move our lives in new and better directions.
Which brings me to this Friday’s vision board workshop.
This Friday, February 4th, from 7-8:30, I am hosting a pay-what-you-can online workshop to help you with your mental and emotional spring cleaning. It will take place online via Zoom, so please sign up if you want the link (or recording).
I will guide you through a meditation to help you feel grounded, and to allow you to unlock your own vision for what you want this year to be—what changes you may want to make, what things you might want to do or begin, what you want to let go of. Then you will begin creating your own vision board using layers of intention that will help you feel a deep connection to what you want to create.
It is the perfect time of year to set a new intention and begin, or begin again. I would love for you to join me.
