If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, look no further!
The Dress to Express Yourself Challenge starts on Thursday.
It is 100% free. You just need to sign up at the landing page using THIS LINK, so that I can send you the emails. It is a four-day event, running from Thursday, July 30 - Sunday, August 2nd. You’ll get an email each day with the activity and “assignment” for the day. So even if you can’t actually start on Thursday, you can keep the emails handy until you CAN start.
The idea behind this challenge is to have FUN.
Between you, me, and the lamppost, 2020 has included an awful lot of suckiness, and I have had enough. Instead of sitting back and waiting to see what goes wrong next, why not join me in turning things around for ourselves, at least a little?
The daily activities are going to be fun. One could even say that they are “child’s play”, since we will be playing dress-up, getting in touch with our inner five-year old, having a scavenger hunt, and daydreaming. Each of these will come with specific things to do in your wardrobe, with a goal of helping you to reconnect with who you are right now, and to get you thinking about dressing to express who you are. It’s about showing up in the world as yourself—your whole self—and making yourself happy through the self-expression of getting dressed each day in a way that brings you pleasure.
Each day will also include an assignment to do some mirror work. It’s something I hit upon for myself as a way to turn around my negative self-talk, and it helped a lot in a very short time. Come to find out that the great Louise Hay (author and founder of Hay House) was a big proponent of this, too. You just talk to yourself in the mirror.
And let’s face it, many of us already do this. Only we often don’t say especially kind or supportive things to ourselves.
Instead of tearing yourself down, the mirror work I’m assigning has you say kind things to yourself. You may be surprised by how profound this simple act can be, but I hope and believe it will help you turn your self talk around!
I’m working on a new decluttering offer for fall (or spring, if you are in the southern hemisphere) that is just about your wardrobe. Instead of decluttering your whole house, this focuses on clothing, shoes, makeup, and toiletries. I had hoped to have it together by now, but got a bit delayed by my husband’s double knee replacement. I’ll keep you posted once I’ve got it a bit more worked out!
