Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
In 1929, René Magritte painted “The Treachery of Images,” a lifelike image of a smoking pipe along with the phrase “ceci n’est pas une pipe” (meaning “this is not a pipe”). The joke by the surrealist painter is based on the fact that it’s not actually a pipe, just the image of one.
So it is with today’s blog post. It’s here, and it’s taking up a bit of space, but it’s not my usual sort of post.
I didn’t want the day to pass without posting, since I haven’t missed a Tuesday since I started this website. I am instead taking some time for myself.
If you need to put something down, I hope you will do it.
If you need to do something at less than 100%, I hope you will do that too.
Give yourself permission to rest. To take time off. Or to do things less than perfectly.
You deserve a break.
We all do.
