A quick hello

Hello!

I hope you are managing well. I’m still on a brief hiatus, but wanted to check in so you wouldn’t worry.

Also, I’m checking in because I’ve been worried about you.

With mass shootings (and possible new gun legislation to help curb gun violence—here’s hoping!) and the January 6th hearings triggering PTSD in so many people, plus the ongoing Covid stuff (so many friends are sick right now!) and the war in Ukraine and massive heat waves sweeping the western US and more . . .

Well. I worry.

Are you okay?

Are you taking good care of yourself?

Please remember to do the following, every single day:

  • Ask yourself how you are feeling: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

  • If you are feeling tired, do what you can to get more sleep and rest. Take breaks. Step away from things that deplete you if you possibly can.

  • If you are feeling worn down, please make sure that you are eating enough, and that you are giving your body things that make you feel loved (whether that’s carbs or fruits or salads or protein or chocolate), and are staying hydrated.

  • I know I just said it, but STAY HYDRATED. Water is great, but all fluids count (at least in part), so be sure you are getting enough fluids. (Easy tip: if your urine is dark in color, you need to drink A LOT more fluids. It should be closer to clear if you’ve been getting enough liquids.)

  • If you are feeling anxious, do what you can to reduce that. Check out this prior post for ideas. If you are feeling depressed, please reach out for help. If you don’t already have someone to talk to, start with your family doctor or call the SAMHSA national helpline at (800) 662-4357.

  • If you are are feeling, well, TOO MUCH, then see what you can do to remove some things from your plate. So many of us are empaths, and we find ourselves feeling not only our own emotions, but those of the people around us. There are ways to protect your energy, and I will be sharing those in an upcoming workshop on June 24th.
